Verify User
Verifying a user confirms that the email address - and, where you use it, the mobile number - on an OSOSS account really belongs to the person signing in. Until that confirmation happens the account exists, but its contact channels are not trusted, and that becomes a problem the first time somebody needs a password reset or an emailed document.
How verification works in OSOSS
Every user record carries two independent verification stamps. They are set separately and they unlock different things:
| Stamp | Set when | What it protects |
|---|---|---|
| Email verified | you open the signed verification link sent to your inbox | password resets, emailed notifications, documents sent to you |
| Mobile verified | your number is confirmed on the account | SMS and WhatsApp notifications addressed to you as a user |
Verification is per user, not per company. Every colleague you add under Users goes through it on their own account, so an owner being verified says nothing about the accountant.
There are two ways an account becomes verified. If you signed up yourself, OSOSS mails a verification link that is signed for your address alone and cannot be reused for another account. If somebody invited you from Users, accepting the invitation marks your email verified immediately - receiving the invitation already proved the address, so there is no second email.
Verify your email address
- Complete registration with the address you actually read. A typo here is the single most common cause of a stuck account.
- Open the message from OSOSS and follow the verification link.
- OSOSS checks the signature in the link, stamps the account as verified, and returns you to the sign-in page.
- Sign in at Login and continue with company setup.
The dashboard also serves a verification screen at https://my.ososs.com/verify, which asks for Name, Email, Mobile and Password and submits with Verify. You arrive there from a link in a message rather than from a menu, so if you have not been sent there, you do not need it.
If the link never arrives
Verification requests are deliberately rate limited to six attempts per minute, so hammering the resend button does not help. Work through the causes instead: check the junk folder, confirm the address on the user record under Users, and have an administrator correct it and resend if it is wrong. Corporate mail filters are the usual culprit for company domains.
